Are the ingredients organic?

Where possible, yes. It is our mission to source all raw ingredients organically or spray free to align with our ethos of creating sustainable, ethical products. While we haven’t found organic suppliers for every product, we are working to do so and will keep our community updated on this front. It is our goal to be 100% organic and eventually apply for B-Corp status. 

Are your spices ethically sourced?

Yes, they are. Unfortunately the global spice trade is plagued with minimal protection for workers, often relying on child labour. We refuse to support these unethical systems of exploitation in any capacity, so have taken the time to source suppliers that pride themselves on ethically produced premium spices. 

What nuts are used in Umami Larder blends?

We use a variety of organic, New Zealand grown nuts: hazelnuts, macadamias, and pine nuts. For those that aren't grown in New Zealand—walnuts, Brazil nuts, cashew nuts, pecans, and pistachios—we’ve sourced our fare from trusted vendors abroad. 

What seeds are used in Umami Larder blends?

We use pumpkin, sunflower, sesame (both black and white), and poppy seeds. 

What days do you dispatch orders?

As a small business, we ship all orders out on Monday and Wednesday each week. If you place your order before 12pm on a Tuesday, it will be dispatched on Wednesday, if after 12pm, it will likely go out in the following weeks delivery run. 

We are a small, family run business who make and package everything by hand.  If you have a particularly urgent order, please let us know and we will try to get your products to you earlier. As our business grows, we will work to add additional shipping days. 

Am I able to pick up my order?

Yes, absolutely! We’re happy to accommodate pick ups for local customers. This saves you money on shipping and often means you can receive your order urgently. Please get in touch in advance so we can arrange a time and provide location details.

Where do we deliver to?

We’re proud to deliver nationwide. Orders are shipped out once a week, on Wednesday. Please be patient with deliveries as the New Zealand postal service finds its footing once more after a taxing time during the pandemic. 

Can custom orders be placed for large quantities?

How are the blends packaged?

We’re proud to package all of our blends in sealed, fully compostable bags. Once opened and emptied into an airtight container, we would love for you to place the bag in your green waste box or home compost—the bag will break down in 15 weeks! 

What is the shelf life of the blends?

All of our blends are preservative and additive free, which means they should be consumed in 3-4 weeks. The exception to this is our Dukkah range which can be tightly sealed and stored in your freezer for up to 6 months.

Do you cater to allergies?

Where possible, and given quantities are reasonable, we will endeavour to cater to all allergies. Please reach out to us directly so we can discuss. 

Can I order a monthly subscription service?

We're working on bringing a subscription service to our customers. Please make sure you are signed up to our newsletter. Our subscribers will be the first to know when the subscription feature launches.
